Roof Refurbishment

Sheet roofs are under constant and relentless weathering. To avoid unnecessary and premature roof refurbishment, regular and ongoing maintenance towards resisting corrosion is imperative. Roof sheets remain particularly vulnerable at any points of overlap, ridges, bolts, cut edges and roof lights. Today’s advanced coatings and treatments are able to create a continuous coating encapsulation that easily outperforms more traditional silicone-based coatings. Having the ability to contract and expand in resisting the constant extremes of weather, particularly moisture, temperature variations and UV sunlight, provides enhanced protection towards minimising degradation impact on a variety of materials. These include galvanised steel, asbestos, PVC, cast iron, aluminium, concrete, copper, lead and others.

Investment in more modern treatments and products provide increased intervals between maintenance schedules, which results in overall cost reduction. Fully backed up and supported by comprehensive guarantees.

CJ Paint Spraying is an expert and leader in corrosion and cut edge treatment services. Roof refurbishment may require repair prior to preparation for application coatings. In the worst case, this may be complete sheet replacement where the corrosion has been allowed to compromise the integrity substrate of the metal sheet, or potentially less invasive, by a more localised repair. For the majority of cases, it’s the coatings that fail rather than the material substrate, resulting in obvious visibility of blistering, crazing, delamination and spot corrosion. Where this has occurred, a thorough preparation of the existing roof, followed by spray-painting applications of primer and finish coatings provide full and comprehensive roof refurbishment and preservation.

Roof refurbishment of other materials such as asbestos can also be undertaken. Although much rarer now, due to the potential understood dangers of the material, CJ Paint Spraying can undertake work for repair of existing substrate using waterproof acrylics, followed by spray painting using paint resins which seal and provide a vapour permeable barrier that encapsulates the substrate. Loose fittings also present themselves as ingress points for rain and moisture and particular attention is made towards restoration by the cropping and encapsulation of bolts and fittings, together with applications of appropriate sealants prior to receiving any finishes. Coatings need to be able to expand, contract and permit the cement-based substrate to ‘sweat’, whilst simultaneously repelling moisture, temperature extremes and UV sunlight. This means only the very best premium and proven products, such as Girosil systems, are used by CJ Paint Spraying in asbestos roof restoration.

Any roof refurbishment quote requires a full and comprehensive on-site survey. This takes into account any special customer or particular site requirements. We establish an agreed work schedule and time scale in consultation with each customer. In some cases, we may be asked to conduct work outside of normal business hours to ensure minimal business and operational disruption. Risk assessment also forms an important part of the survey, in tandem with the preparation of a method statement. Safety for our customers and our staff remains and is, paramount.

All roof refurbishment work is undertaken by qualified and accredited tradespeople and comes with a comprehensive guarantee.
